Scenario
Elphaba, a misunderstood young woman because of her green skin, and Glinda, a popular girl, become friends at Shiz University in the Land of Oz. After an encounter with the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their friendship reaches a crossroads.. Practical sets were built and supplemented with CGI rather than being filmed on green or blue screens. Chu wanted the world of Oz to feel like a real place rather than just a computer-generated background.
This included planting 9 million tulips to serve as part of the landscape for Munchkinland
In the classroom scene where Elphaba causes the flowers to rise in the air and the pollen sends the students to sleep, you can clearly see a wire suspending one of the flowers as it moves. It will be interesting if this gets corrected for the streaming and DVD release of the film.. Just walked out of Wicked and all I can say is wow. I bought tickets for my wife and I because she is a huge theater fan. I do enjoy the theater myself but not overly enthusiastic. I didn't know much about Wicked except the general plot and man I've been missing out.
The film is nothing short of fantastic
Cynthia Erivo is a marvel but Ariana Grande truly steals the show. Every scene she’s in I couldn't help but laugh. There's no doubt in my mind that she'll be nominated for an Oscar and hopefully brings it home. The last scene/song by Erivo is breathtaking and I can’t stop thinking about it.
I can't wait to watch it again
Even though it's a bit long at two and a half hours it certainly flies through it and every frame is magnificent. Look back and the memorable red carpet looks and costumes worn by Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, and more of the magical cast of 'Wicked.'
