Land grabs threaten to destroy the declining dynasty
Scenario
With the vast Lawson herd left without an heir, Australia’s rival teams see an opportunity to take control. The series was filmed in sparsely populated remote locations in the Northern Territory and South Australia, and was not shown on screen.
The acting is fantastic, the relationships intriguing and complex enough
Locations include Kakadu National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with special permission from traditional owners, and Tipperary Station, a real-life working cattle station that has its own airport and school. Although I thought this was a beautifully shot series, the plot was too melodramatic.
I think it is designed for an international audience
Viewers outside of Australia may be scratching their heads about our gun control laws while watching this. I lived in the north for 8 years, there really aren’t that many human shootings, it’s OTT.
It is a very watchable series
The destruction and constant manipulation of the country is certainly realistic. Although it does a good job of continuing throughout the legacy of psychological trauma, death and grief could be explored more deeply.
