Smith, who plays Lloyd, is a veteran of the rodeo world
Scenario
A ranching family in Montana deals with other trespassers on their land. Forrie J. John Dutton (Kevin Costner) often seems to “forget” his mountain accent and revert to the SoCal voice he normally uses.
Costner is a master actor in the lead role of the Dutton family
(This review is for the first two seasons only) I went into this show not expecting to like it, but the story, acting, and cinematography are excellent. It’s basically the Montana Mafia Wars with huge intermittent doses of testosterone (gun-toting cowboys on horses while fishing)! The show is at its best when it shows the Duttons moving the chessboard and their enemies engaging each other.
And Thomas Rainwater is great
Kelsey Asbille is the weakest link as Monica and she’s poorly played, the story drags awkwardly and the acting misses the mark. I think Cole Hauser as Rip might be the strongest actor (other than Costner himself) and I was looking forward to every scene with Rip. The story hums and the setting is beautiful.

Just like Cormac McCarthy’s “All The Pretty Horses”; it was a bit more raw and brutal than the title suggests, this show follows a similar vein. I highly recommend it and wish I didn’t have to wait so long to watch it. A new season of “Silo”; is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
