This will be the third attempt at a television series, the world of Cruel Intentions (1999)
Scenario
After a tumultuous incident at their elite college, stepsisters Caroline and Lucien decide to maintain their power and reputation by seducing the daughter of the Vice President of the United States. A direct-to-video sequel to Cruel Intentions 2 (2000), in which Amy Adams replaced Sarah Michelle Gellar as Kathryn Merteuil, it was originally a scripted TV series before being adapted into a feature film. Gellar later reprized her role as Kathryn in the 2016 NBC pilot Cruel Intentions (2016), which was not ordered to series.
It follows Cruel Intentions (1999)
This show promised so much but delivered so little. The storyline is painfully dull, drawn-out, and lacking in real direction or intrigue. The characters are one-dimensional, lacking depth or development, leaving no connection or roots.
The flirting attempts are downright awkward, mostly because there’s no chemistry between the actors
The dialogue feels unnatural, almost jarring, as if trying too hard to be clever or endearing. It’s a far cry from the effortless charm and connection we’ve seen in the movies. Instead, it feels like a bunch of drama students are fumbling through a poorly written play, trying to imitate the original’s plot and failing miserably.
The casting choices don’t help either
The brother, for instance, is completely miscast. Not only does he lack the charisma or allure the role requires, but his presence seems woefully out of place. He’s devoid of any sexual appeal, making the character unconvincing and forgettable.
